Local Favorite Eats

Hawaii is a melting pot of so many different cultures and because of that it has influenced what we eat. SPAM is a staple for the people of Hawaii. If you grew up here you know spam, rice and eggs is whats for breakfast with shoyu and maybe some furikake on rice! Did the ancient Hawaiians eat spam, rice and eggs for breakfast? No way….This only happened after plantation workers from all over the world came to work the sugar cane fields in Hawaii that we started to become a melting pot. Although fish and poi is my all time favorite as my Hawaiian Grandmother would feed me till I fell asleep at the table as a kid. In these blog posts I will be posting some local favorite eats and it won’t always be the latest trendy or hole in the wall place. It may be as simple as fish and poi.
